Madison CUSD #12 shows progress in student success indicators.
Madison CUSD #12 continues to invest in improving curriculum and instruction to address the needs of all learners.
Madison, IL — The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) today released the annual Illinois Report Card, which provides a detailed look at each school’s progress on academics, student success, school culture and climate, and financial investments. Madison CUSD #12 has prioritized English/Language Arts and Math. Bernard Long Elementary and Madison Junior High have demonstrated growth in English/Language Arts and Math on the 2019 Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). In addition, the Madison Senior High School has moved from an “Underperforming” designation to “Commendable” designation for the 2019-2020 school year. When compared to comparable neighboring high schools, Madison Sr. High is the only one to achieve a “Commendable” designation.
Madison CUSD #12 continues to invest in research based quality curriculum at all grade levels, hiring the best staff to meet the needs of students, partnering with American Institute for Research (AIR), Trauma Informed Care initiative, and a redesigned 21st Century Community Learning Center Program.
“Thanks to the relentless efforts of our stakeholders, staff, parents, and students we have made great strides but we have more work to do to truly meet the needs of all learners,” said Principal Mr. Juan Gardner.
On the 2019 Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Bernard Long Elementary and Madison Junior High have demonstrated a 2% growth in English Language Arts and a 5% growth in Math.
Madison’s ongoing focus to address English Language Arts and Math are the driving forces impacting teaching and learning in the district for all students. For example, alignment of the Kindergarten through 8th grade English Language Arts and Math curriculum, adoption of NWEA benchmark assessments Kindergarten through 12th grade, and elementary grade level looping pilot have shown positive data trends on student achievement.
“I am proud of the progress the district has made, none of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all our staff,” said Madison CUSD #12 Superintendent Dr. Andrew Reinking. “As a district we have faced challenges but these have required us to innovate to truly meet the needs of all our students. Our work is not done. We believe Madison CUSD #12 offers students and parents an opportunity for an education that focuses both on academics and the development of the whole child, we will work diligently to continue our improvement.”
Madison CUSD #12 is committed to gathering feedback from the community to ensure each and every student has the support they need to reach their goals. The district will be scheduling opportunities to engage and dialogue so we can continue to support all students to thrive.
