Madison Family,
Since the decision was made to deliver instruction through remote learning for the first quarter we have been planning on how to deliver the best remote learning opportunity possible. It was identified that staff desired more training on how to best deliver remote instruction to your students. To accomplish this, we will be moving the first day of remote student attendance from Wednesday, August 12th to Monday, August 17th. This will allow us to provide the training that our staff desires so they can deliver the highest quality instruction to your students.

Good morning parents: We are looking forward to the start of the new year. Despite the circumstances, our staff is eager to get back to teaching and learning. You should have received an email from the district with information about registering your child. If you did not receive this email, please contact Ms. Silas at 877.1712 ext. 6266. You may also come to the school to pick up a registration packet. Thanks.

Good Afternoon Madison Families,
This is Principal Terrien Fennoy with an important message.
We are excited to begin our new school year in a few days and can’t wait to introduce you to this new way of learning! ALL students in grades PK – 12th grade MUST be registered in order to receive work packets, IPad, and chrome books. We are asking that you please register your student so that we can get an accurate count of our enrollment for the upcoming school year. If you do not know your teacher ease account please email us at registration@madisoncusd12.org. . Don’t forget to include the students name the parents’ name and an email address. Sorry, no I cloud are accepted. You can also call or come to the school for a registration packet. Our secretaries are waiting to assist you.

Madison Family,
Since the end of the school year we have been working on how to best reopen school this fall. Three options were developed; in-person, hybrid and remote learning. Over the last several weeks we presented these three options to families and staff. We have asked for your input on how you would like to see school opened and students educated.
Based on this input, guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health we have made the decision to begin the school year with remote learning. Remote learning will continue through the end of the first quarter.
This decision was not made lightly. Our two greatest concerns are the safety of all who enter the buildings and providing the best education for students. With the increasing rates of COVID-19 in our region we feel the safest option is to continue remote learning.
Now that the decision has been made, we will provide frequent updates to make sure everyone has accurate information as we adjust to our new normal together.
We thank you for all of your input, and we look forward to providing the best educational opportunity possible for students.
Andrew ReinkingSuperintendent

Madison Family,
This afternoon the Governor announced schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. While we are saddened by this news, Madison School District has established a robust program of remote learning that will continue until the last scheduled day of school, Friday May 22, 2020. Students will continue to receive either online work of learning packets to complete. All completed work should be turned into the Board Office no later than Friday May, 15 to allow time for the work to be graded.
We will continue to deliver meals Monday through Friday beginning at 11:00am. It is hoped we will be able to continue this through the end of the school year. If circumstances arise where this would not be possible we will notify you of any changes.
We know you have concerns about school activities such as graduation and summer school. We have been working on options to address these concerns in case we were out for the remainder of the year. Now that we know for certain we will not be back in regular session this year we will finalize these plans and communicate them out to you and your students.
This is not how any of us wanted to end this school year. We miss seeing your students every day, things are way too quiet in the district.
If you have questions please feel free to contact me either by email, andrew.reinking@madisoncusd12.org or by phone, 618 877-1712 ext 6501.
Stay safe. Madison CUSD #12 is here for you and your students.

Madison Family,
Today the Governor announced that the Stay Home Order and school closings will be extended through April 30th. With the extension of school closings to April 30th we will continue to provide educational services through remote learning. Students will continue to be able to access course material either online or through packets of work.
As this crisis continues, we will continue to provide meals for students. To provide the maximum level of safety for students and families the delivery of meals may need to change in the future. We will keep you updated on and potential changes to the food service program.
While the extension of the Stay Home Order is inconvenient it is intended to reduce the cases of COVID-19 and save lives. Please stay safe and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Madison Family,
I know the last week has been difficult with routines interrupted and schools closed. Our staff has worked diligently to provide educational material and meals to every student in the district. We will continue to do everything we can to continue educational and food services to all our students during the shut down.
There is no end in sight to the current shut down. Although March 30th is the end date set by the Governor, I fully anticipate we will hear about an extension. Everyone keeps using the term "unprecedented" to describe the situation we find in our community, state, nation and world. It is all that and more. Our lives are being changed in ways we could never have imagined just a week ago.
Teaching staff will be reaching out to have parent teacher conferences by phone and you may be contacted by other district staff to check in with you and your student. If you have questions about the work you child is doing, food service or any other needs you may be facing please contact your child's school or the district office.
We are committed to providing the best quality service for your students.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, 618 877-1712 Ext. 6501.
Andrew P. Reinking, Superintendent

Dear Parent/Guardian,
The recent Coronavirus outbreak is unprecedented and has forced many institutions to rethink how they conduct business. We were notified today that Governor Pritzker has issued an order to close schools statewide for the next 2 weeks, March 17th through March 30th, in an effort to limit exposure to the virus. While we do not have any confirmed cases in Madison or surrounding communities the action taken by the governor is out of an abundance of caution and concern for public safety.
During the two weeks Madison School District is shutdown, student will still receive educational services either through e-learning or by learning packets of work that will be sent home. Guardians of students with internet access will be able to sign-out a district Chrome Book beginning March 16th. Students will be able to access district resources through their school login giving them access to assignments, tests, and their teacher. Teachers will be available from 9:00a.m to 2:00p.m. each day that school would have normally been in session.
Students without internet access will receive learning assignment packets to work on. New packets will be sent out each week via U.S Mail to the student's address. If there are any questions, the student can call the District Office, (618) 877-1712 to be put in contact with their teacher.
As the situation changes, we will do our best to keep you updated. We realize this is a change for everyone and issues will arise. If there are any issues or concerns, please let me know. We look forward to partnering with you during this new adventure to make your students education meaningful and productive.
Sincerely,
Andrew Reinking

Madison Family,
It is with a heavy heart that tonight I report the IHSA Board of Directors have voted cancel the State Basketball Tournament. This decision was made in compliance Governor's guidance on public gatherings in response to the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
This turn of event does not diminish all our team has accomplished. As far as I am concerned they are State Champions!
We have few details but will update you as we know more.

Madison Family,
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has made the decision to limit the number of fans each team is allowed to bring to the State Basketball Tournament in Peoria to 60. As a result, the decision has been made to offer the available spots to family members of players first. The players provided names of family members who were planning to attend games Friday and Saturday this morning. At this time all 60 slots are filled. Individuals not on the list will not be permitted to enter the game.
Because of the restrictions IHSA has put on attending the game there will be no fan bus on Friday or Saturday. The game Friday will be available live to at the Jr/Sr High in the auditorium.

We are excited that our boys basketball team has advanced to the final round of the Sectional Series. The game will be held today, Friday March 6th, at Dupo High School at 7:00pm, doors are scheduled to open at 6:00pm. We wanted to remind everyone about a couple of items.
1. Admission to the game is $6 for every person entering including children. This admission fee is set by IHSA and they do not make allowance for a different rate for children.
2. At the conclusion of the game, all spectators are expected to stay in the bleachers. They should "NOT" come onto the floor for the awarding of the Sectional plaque.
3. There will be additional ticket takers as well as concessions available in an effort to reduce lines.
Come join us for a great evening of basketball as we cheer our team on to another Madison victory!
Andrew Reinking, Superintendent
