EETT Funding - 1:1 Laptop Initiative
The Madison Community Unit School District #12 is proud to announce that in collaboration with Brooklyn School District #188 and Venice School District #3 they have been awarded $850,000 through the Enhancing Technology Through Education, Title II-D ARRA Funds. The primary goal of this program is to improve students’ academic achievement through the integration of technology in schools and to assist every students in becoming technologically literate by the end of eighth grade. Benefits to the districts will include
- Laptops/Netbooks will be purchased so that each student in grades 3-12 will have one to one access. Approximately 755 total for the three districts.
- Laptops/Netbooks will be purchased for all core classroom teachers (reading, math, science and social studies) Approximately 57 total for the three districts.
- 25% of funds awarded are allocated directly to provide ongoing sustained, intensive and high quality professional development in the integration of one-to-one computer technologies and related components. Professional Development will be provided by the Learning Technology Center Area #5.
The funds were made available through ARRA/ ISBE who offered an unprecedented one-time opportunity to eligible applicants to acquire low-cost Laptop/Netbook computers to create fully integrated, state of the art learning environments. If not for these funds the districts would not be able to purchase the equipment or fund the professional development necessary to implement this project.
