Welcome Letter

WELCOME

Dear Parent/Guardians and Students:

Welcome to the 2009-1010 school year! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child(ren) to the start of another school year at Madison Student Support Center! This year registration will be held at the high school cafeteria on August 5th and 6th from 1:00-7:00 pm and August 7th from 9:00-noon. As always it is imperative to get our students off to a great start and this begins with registering all of our students on time.

The beginning of the school year is always full of anticipation, excitement and planning as our staff work together and prepare for the education of our students. At MSSC, we intend to focus on academics as well as:

• Create an environment where every student feels safe and celebrated and disruption behavior is eliminated.
• Concentrate on the Character Education: Respect, Honesty, Courage, Gratitude, Humanity, Responsibility, Caring, Self Control, Self Esteem, Service, Goal Setting, Honesty, Self Control, Patience, and Service.
• Take many opportunities to celebrate students' successes so that every student is recognized for his/her growth and progress.
• Create an understanding among our students and parents that they are active participants in the education and learning that takes place at Madison Student Support Center.

The pages of the student handbook are filled with important information regarding school policy and procedures. I suggest that parents and students review the contents together. The Madison Student Support Center’s Student Planner was designed to assist your child in organizing his/her daily, weekly, and long-term assignments. We hope this will improve your child's organizational skills. In addition, we feel that the planner will serve as a helpful reference for parents as they seek to provide academic support at home. Parents are our partners in the important job of educating our students.

I believe your child's best chance for success is made possible through learning partnerships. It is critically important that faculty/staff, students, and parents work together to ensure our children's success and safety. Consistent communication between home and school is essential to promote the best interests of your child.

Our school community is greatly enriched by your involvement and participation. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. I look forward to working with you this year.

Sincerely,

Tracy Brown, Administrator
